How GrowChi handles your information.

This privacy policy explains what personal information GrowChi collects through this website and the GrowChi app, why we collect it, how we use it, and the choices you have.

Who we are

GrowChi Limited is the company responsible for this website, the GrowChi app, and the personal information you choose to submit through the GrowChi waitlist, app registration, app account or enquiry forms. GrowChi Limited is registered in England and Wales with company number 17274302.

What information we collect

When you use the website, join the waitlist, contact us or request early access, we may collect:

• contact details you submit, such as your name and email address;
• GrowChi app account details, such as your username, email address and password;
• your area, if you choose to provide it;
• your selected interest, such as joining the waitlist, requesting early access to GrowChi, rewards or brand partnerships, or community and organisation pilots;
• anything you choose to write in the message box;
• feedback, bug reports or support messages you send while using GrowChi;
• health and wellbeing information you choose to enter into the GrowChi app, such as steps, activity, sleep, food, water, mood, vibe checks, wellbeing check-ins, goals, streaks, Chi Energy, Chi Crystals and reward activity;
• mood, vibe check and mental wellbeing information you choose to log, which helps Chi reflect how you feel as well as what you did;
• your Chi name, evolution stage and weekly wellness score, which may appear in the GrowChi global leaderboard visible to other authenticated GrowChi users. You can opt out of the leaderboard at any time in Profile settings. No real names, email addresses or personal information are displayed on the leaderboard;
• your Chi name, app journey progress, and which wellness areas you have explored and milestones you have reached within the GrowChi experience, including the Chitopia world features;
• avatar setup choices, such as dragon style and personality style selections, used to personalise Chi's appearance and behaviour;
• photos or images you choose to upload for avatar generation, food analysis or other app features;
• friend connections, referral codes, referral activity and reactions you send or receive through the GrowChi social features;
• device push notification tokens and notification preferences, used to send app reminders and friend reaction notifications;
• app interaction data, such as screens visited, taps and feature usage, used to understand funnels, drop-off points and product performance. PostHog session replay is switched off, so GrowChi does not record actual user sessions;
• if you connect Android Health Connect, health and fitness data you allow GrowChi to read, such as steps, activity, sleep and related wellness data, so the app can reflect your routines in Chi and progress features;
• purchase and subscription status information, such as Chi Pulse subscription status or Chi Crystal purchases, where provided by Google Play Billing or Apple in-app purchase systems; and
• basic technical information collected by our hosting and infrastructure providers, such as IP address, browser type, device information, pages visited, server logs and function logs.

Passwords are used to help authenticate GrowChi app accounts. Please keep your password private and do not send it to us by email, message or contact form.

Health, wellbeing and mood information can be sensitive. Please do not send sensitive health information through the website contact form. Only add or connect information in the GrowChi app that you are comfortable using in GrowChi. GrowChi is a wellness companion and not a medical, emergency or crisis support service.

How we use your information

We use personal information to:

• respond to your enquiry;
• manage the GrowChi waitlist;
• create, authenticate and manage GrowChi app accounts;
• operate, test, troubleshoot and improve the GrowChi app;
• reflect your movement, sleep, food, water, mood and wellbeing routines in Chi, Chi Energy, Chi Crystals, progress and reward features;
• generate or personalise Chi avatars, food analysis, Chi Coach responses and other AI-supported app features;
• manage Chi Pulse subscriptions, Chi Crystal purchases and entitlement checks through app store billing systems;
• read Health Connect data you authorise so GrowChi can sync activity, sleep and related wellness data into your app experience;
• understand interest in early access, rewards, brand partnerships, community pilots and organisation pilots;
• improve the website and understand how it is being used;
• support privacy, safeguarding, security and misuse prevention; and
• keep appropriate records for business, security and legal purposes.

AI features and avatar generation

GrowChi uses AI services to power features such as Chi Coach, food analysis and personalised Chi avatar generation.

Chi Coach is an AI companion, not a qualified medical professional. It is not a substitute for professional medical, psychological or clinical advice, or emergency support.

Chi Coach conversations and memory

Chi Coach conversations may be processed by Anthropic to generate responses, under Anthropic's API data retention policies. This data is not used for model training without permission. GrowChi may store recent Chi Coach conversation history to provide continuity across sessions. If you use Chi Pulse, GrowChi may also store selected memory summaries from Chi Coach conversations, such as goals, preferences, struggles or context you share, to personalise future responses. You can clear Chi memory in Profile settings.

Avatar images

Personalised Chi avatars are generated using fal.ai. Your uploaded photo is sent to fal.ai to create the avatar and is not stored by GrowChi as a permanent asset after generation. The generated avatar image is stored securely by GrowChi using Supabase Storage so it can be shown in your account, and is overwritten each time a new avatar is generated. Avatar images are retained until you request account or avatar deletion.

Health and activity data

GrowChi stores the health and activity information you choose to log, including movement, sleep, food, water, relaxation, mood, vibe checks and mental wellbeing check-ins.

If you connect Health Connect on Android, GrowChi may read your steps and sleep duration so these can be logged automatically. GrowChi only requests access to the data types needed for these features.

Data storage and service providers

GrowChi uses trusted third-party providers to run the app, store data and provide AI features. These include:

• Supabase for authentication, app data, database and secure file storage;
• Netlify for hosting, serverless functions, deployment logs and website performance monitoring;
• Anthropic for Chi Coach, food analysis and AI text responses;
• fal.ai for personalised avatar generation;
• Firebase Cloud Messaging for Android push notifications only. GrowChi does not use Firebase Analytics;
• Android Health Connect for reading steps and sleep data where you choose to connect it;
• PostHog for event analytics, such as screens visited, taps, funnels and drop-off data. Session replay is switched off;
• Sentry for error monitoring, crash logs and diagnostics; and
• RevenueCat and Google Play Billing for subscription management, if you subscribe to Chi Pulse.

These providers process data only as needed to provide GrowChi's features.

Our lawful basis

We use your information where you have asked us to contact you, where it is necessary for our legitimate interests in developing and operating GrowChi, and where we need to comply with legal obligations.

Age requirements

GrowChi is currently available to users aged 18 and over. The website is for early interest, waitlist sign-ups, app access interest, rewards partnerships and pilot enquiries. The GrowChi app is not intended for emergency, crisis or medical support.

When you create an account, we may ask you to confirm that you are 18 or over. If you are under 18, please do not create a GrowChi app account or submit personal information through the app. If we become aware that an account belongs to someone under 18, we may close the account and delete the associated data.

International transfers

Some service providers may process information outside the UK. Where this happens, we aim to use providers that apply appropriate safeguards for international data transfers.

How long we keep information

We keep waitlist, enquiry, app account, health, wellbeing, AI feature, purchase, subscription and app activity information for as long as needed to respond to you, manage access, operate the GrowChi app, develop rewards partnerships, improve the product, and maintain appropriate business records. You can ask us to delete your information at any time by emailing support@growchi.co.uk.

Account and data deletion

Full account and data deletion currently requires emailing support@growchi.co.uk. This is because the in-app Clear data from this device button does not delete the full account. It signs you out and removes local device data only. It does not delete your Supabase Auth user, profile, activity logs, synced conversation history, Chi memory or stored avatar image.

When you request full account deletion, GrowChi permanently removes your profile, daily logs, wellness activity data, Chi memory, stored personalised Chi avatar image, push notification tokens, friendships, reports and related app data from GrowChi systems, unless limited records must be retained for legal, security, fraud prevention or financial compliance reasons.

Please email from the address linked to your GrowChi account so we can verify the request. Deletion requests are normally processed within 30 days.

Your rights

Depending on the circumstances, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to the use of your personal information. You may also have the right to data portability and to withdraw consent where processing is based on consent.

If you are unhappy with how we handle your information, please contact us first so we can try to help. You also have the right to complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint.

Changes to this policy

We may update this privacy policy as GrowChi develops, especially when the app features, AI features, Health Connect use, payments, rewards or data practices change.
